A quick Q&A with Danielle, Sales Assistant
Hi, Danielle. Please can you tell us a bit about what you were doing before you joined Topps Tiles and what inspired you to join us?
Before I joined Topps Tiles a year ago, I was teaching maths to adults – so I’ve had a complete career change. I wanted a job with a company where I could grow my career and stretch myself, so that’s why I went from teaching to Topps Tiles. I thought I’d need DIY experience to join, but along with some great training – which Topps Tiles provided – I found that all you actually need is the right attitude!
What makes you proud to work at Topps Tiles?
The customers more than anything; especially when they come back and say “my bathroom looks beautiful, thank you”, “your choices were perfect, you knew what you were talking about”, “I’m going to recommend you to a friend” – that’s what makes my day.
Topps Tiles is the UK’s biggest tile specialist, but what makes it such a good place to work?
It’s the close-knit teams that work to achieve goals and targets together. We share all our knowledge and work together to give our customers the best possible advice. At the end of the day, I love supporting my colleagues and I like the fact they’re always happy to help me, too.
What do you love most about your job?
I really enjoy knowing that I’m helping people with their tiling projects. I would say it’s the personal reward and personal satisfaction from doing a great job – especially when someone tells you you’ve helped them make a brilliant decision.

What’s the support like at Topps Tiles and are there lots of opportunities for progression?
I feel I can approach and talk to my managers about any aspect of the job – from day-to-day queries to long-term training. If I wanted to step up into an Assistant Manager role, for example, I know they would support me, every step of the way.
What do you think makes a great Topps Tiles employee?
You’ve got to be able to work as part of a team. There’s a real family feel here and we all work together to make sure we’re providing the best service to our customers.
