The Role

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Network and Implementations Manager to join our wider IT Team at Topps Tiles based at our Head Office in Grove Park, Leicester.

Reporting to the IT Delivery Manager, you will focus on the delivery of highly available, secure and resilient network services to the Topps Tiles Group.  Leading the Network & Implementations team, the role will also own and progress the network roadmap, provide operational support and own their projects.

Key Accountabilities will include 

Customer / Strategy / Plan

  • Development of network roadmap to support the group’s goals and objectives
  • Monitor and maintain high performing MPLS, WAN, LAN and Wireless networks with appropriate tools and applications
  • Overall responsibility for maximising service levels through the availability, performance and resilience of the network
  • Responsible for the configuration of network switches and routers including VLAN management and routing
  • Ensure proactive monitoring is in place to prevent occurrence of incidents and identify improvements to the network, according to the needs of the business
  • Plan and review capacity of the network and proactively raise recommendations for dealing with issues before they impact the business
  • Make recommendations for improvement using latest technologies
  • Ensure the network architecture is aligned with security policies and best practice
  • Act as a point of expert escalation for troubleshooting and diagnosing and resolving complex network and system issues
  • Assist with the identification of cyber threats, vulnerabilities and risks
  • Responsible for security and firmware patching of network equipment
  • Develop KPI’s and metrics to measure and drive high network availability and performance
  • Provide regular reporting on network performance to the IT Senior Management team
  • Promote and inspire a best practice ITIL environment




  • Create and drive a ‘fast pace’ environment with a culture of high service excellence and exceptional customer experience
  • Responsible for recruiting, engaging and motivating the IT Network & Implementations Team
  • Train existing and contingency Implementation Engineer to a high standard
  • Monitor the Implementation Engineers workload and work standards to ensure a high level of service
  • Provide help and support to the Implementation Engineers when required.
  • Conduct Implementation Engineers reviews

Financial / Commercials

  • Generate and implement ideas for cost savings and continuous improvement to processes / service levels
  • To ensure best value is achieved with all hardware and software purchases.



Risk and process

  • Create and maintain high level and detailed network documentation including scope of work documents, network topologies
  • Find opportunities to improve repetitive processes through automation where appropriate
  • To constantly seek potential improvements for all IT processes to enhance service levels
  • Responsible for delivering assigned enablement projects to time and budget to achieve agreed objectives



  • Ensure that all changes follow the internal change management processes

 Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required


  • Experience configuring and maintaining Network LAN / WAN & Wireless environments
  • Extensive understanding of MPLS networks
  • Extensive understanding of networking technologies and protocols
  • Excellent knowledge of network routing and switching, including troubleshooting
  • Experience building, deploying and support of enterprise class HP / Cisco / Meraki routers, switches and wireless
  • Familiarity with network security (NAT, Firewall’s, VPN)
  • Knowledge of IP Telephony platforms
  • Experience configuring network monitoring tools
  • Extensive experience in the diagnosis and resolution of network issues including packet-level analysis 


  • CCNA or CCNP qualification and experience of working within a Service Management environment
  • Practical understanding of Service Management
  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to use own initiative
